赤伶 wears like ceremonial powder beneath stage light, red lacquer warmed by fire, and incense smoke rising through a darkened theatre. It is inspired by the ceremonial world of Peking opera, where powder, pigment, silk, headdress, movement, and voice are mastered with exacting discipline until the performer becomes a vessel for role, memory, and myth.
Bitter mandarin, saffron, and dried plum open with the brightness of a struck match — brief, gold, and trembling. Beneath it, rice powder, iris, and rouge evoke the ritual of transformation: the powdered face, the mouth painted lacquer red, held still behind a golden fan.
In the heart, Chinese rose, carnation, Chinese bayberry, and black tea unfold in equal parts romance and remembrance — bruised florals caught in the heat of lanterns, silk, and breath. Incense drifts through the composition with frankincense, smoked sandalwood, and lacquered guaiac wood, warmed by the texture of embroidered silk and old stage boards.
What begins as performance becomes transformation — a fragrance of ceremonial powder, lacquered red florals, theatrical smoke, and unforgettable beauty.

Inspiration
赤伶 is inspired by the legend of unsung Chinese opera actors. According to the lore, the region’s most revered opera actor was commanded by invading soldiers to perform in his hometown theatre. He took the stage, using the performance to give the villagers time to escape before locking the theatre from within and setting it ablaze — turning his final performance into an act of resistance.
Whether remembered as history, legend, or cultural memory, the story endures because of what it suggests: that art, at its highest expression, becomes conviction, resistance, and remembrance.
赤伶 is a meditation on the threshold between performance and purpose. In the ceremonial world of Peking opera, the powdered face, lacquer-red mouth, embroidered costume, headdress, and fan are part of a total art of transformation — every detail mastered until the performer becomes a vessel for role, memory, and myth.
